Zinc ore beneficiation process

Zinc is an important nonferrous metal that is widely used in construction, automotive, electronics, metallurgy and other fields. Zinc ore is one of the important sources of zinc, so what is the beneficiation process of zinc ore?

Process flow

The mineral processing process of zinc ore mainly includes steps such as pretreatment, rough separation, concentration and tailings treatment.

First, the zinc ore is pretreated, mainly ore crushing and slurry preparation. The crushing process uses crushing equipment to break down ore from larger particle sizes into smaller particle sizes for subsequent beneficiation processes. Slurry preparation is to mix the crushed ore with an appropriate amount of water to form a suitable slurry concentration.

Next is the rough selection stage. In the roughing stage, flotation is mainly used to separate zinc ore. Flotation separates zinc ore from other minerals by adding specific chemicals to the slurry. -Generally, xanthogen is used as the active agent, and the xanthate solution is sprayed into the slurry to react with the zinc ore surface, thereby floating the zinc ore. After flotation, zinc ore can be initially separated to form zinc concentrate.
The beneficiation stage is to further purify and separate the zinc concentrate. The mill flotation process is usually used to add an appropriate amount of sodium cyanide and xanthogen to the zinc concentrate to form a zinc cyanide complex. During the grinding and flotation process, the zinc concentrate is broken and ground to make the zinc cyanide fully contact with the xanthate, thereby further separating the zinc ore. After selection, higher purity zinc concentrate can be obtained.
Finally, there is tailings treatment. In the zinc ore beneficiation process, tailings treatment is an important link. The dipping method is usually used to treat tailings. During the dipping process, the tailings are reacted with a hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid solution with a high concentration to extract residual valuable metals and dangerous substances from the tailings. After tailings treatment, the valuable metals in the tailings can be recycled and hazardous substances can be safely disposed of, reducing environmental pollution.
To sum up, the zinc ore beneficiation process mainly includes four stages: pretreatment, roughing, concentration and tailings treatment. Through processes such as crushing, flotation, mill flotation and impregnation, zinc ore can be efficiently extracted and the separation, purification and recycling of zinc ore can be achieved.
