The chemical name of flake caustic soda, granular caustic soda and solid caustic soda is “sodium hydroxide”, commonly known as caustic soda, caustic soda and caustic soda. It is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaOH. It is highly corrosive and easily soluble in water. Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline and can turn phenolphthalein red. Sodium hydroxide is a very commonly used alkali and one of the essential drugs in chemical laboratories. Its solution can be used as a washing liquid. Solid sodium hydroxide is mainly divided into three forms, namely flake caustic soda, granular caustic soda and solid caustic soda. Their main differences lie in the form, production process, packaging and use.
01: Similarities 1. The raw materials used in production are the same, both are processed from liquid alkali; 2. The molecular formula is the same, both are NaOH, the same substance; the melting point (318.4 degrees) and boiling point (1390 degrees) are the same. 3. Both are highly corrosive, can quickly burn the skin, and dissolve in water.
02: Differences 1. The equipment used in the production process is different. Flake caustic soda is scraped by the caustic soda machine and then cooled and packed into bags. Granular caustic soda is produced by spray granulation equipment, and solid caustic soda is directly transported to the solid caustic soda barrel using a conveying pipeline. 2. The external appearance of the products is different. Flake caustic soda is a flake solid, granular caustic soda is a beaded round solid, and solid caustic soda is a whole piece.
3. Different packaging: ①. Caustic soda flakes and caustic soda granules: generally use 25kg plastic woven bags, the inner layer is PE film bag, which plays a role in moisture-proof. It should be stored in a ventilated and dry warehouse or shed. The packaging container should be complete and sealed. It must not be stored or transported together with flammable materials and acids.
②. Solid caustic soda: Industrial solid caustic soda should be sealed and packaged in iron barrels. The barrel wall thickness should be more than 0.5mm and the pressure resistance should be more than 0.5Pa. The barrel cover must be firmly sealed. The net weight of each barrel is 200kg. There should be an obvious “corrosive item” mark on the package. 4. Different uses: Flake caustic soda is mostly used in chemical industry, printing and dyeing, sewage treatment, disinfection, pesticide, electroplating, etc.; granular caustic soda is mainly used in chemical industry such as medicine and cosmetics. It is much more convenient to use granular caustic soda in the laboratory than flake caustic soda. Solid caustic soda is mostly used in pharmaceutical chemical industry;
03: Performance Introduction
1. Flake caustic soda is a white, translucent, flaky solid. It is a basic chemical raw material. It can be used as an acid neutralizer, a masking agent, a precipitant, a precipitation masking agent, a color developer, a saponifier, a peeling agent, a detergent, etc. It has a wide range of uses. 2. Granular caustic soda is granular caustic soda, also known as pearl caustic soda. Granular caustic soda can be divided into coarse granular caustic soda and fine granular caustic soda according to the particle size. The particle size of fine granular caustic soda is about 0.7mm, and its shape is very similar to washing powder. Among solid caustics, flake caustic soda and granular caustic soda are the most common and used solid caustics. Granular caustic soda is easier to use than flake caustic soda, but the production process of granular caustic soda is relatively more difficult and complicated than that of flake caustic soda. Therefore, the price of granular caustic soda is naturally higher than that of flake caustic soda. In most industrial aspects, granular caustic soda is superior to other solid caustics such as flake caustic soda, so it is widely welcomed by industrial manufacturing, but at the same time, the production process of granular caustic soda is also difficult to manufacture than other solid caustics such as flake caustic soda.
